Home Décor Trends For 2022

2022 is officially here and we are looking forward to seeing what the new year brings! We have seen many home décor trends come in and out of popularity over the last year and 2022 is bringing some fresh styles to add to the mix. Trends come into style in the interior design world through taking inspiration from nature, fashion, travel, and global events. In today’s post, we are talking you through our favourite trends of 2022 and how you can embrace them in your home. As trends come and go often, we like to ensure we are choosing styles and designs that you can take away key pieces from and love for years to come. Don’t forget to head into our beautiful retailers to see what trends they are embracing for 2022!

Go For Bold Patterns

Bold patterns are back, and we are seeing them filter through a variety of home décor pieces, especially soft furnishings. Patterns such as checks and stripes have been growing in popularity and work perfectly with both a colourful or a neutral-toned interior design style. In 2022 we will be seeing some more colourful and vibrant patterns in the form of bold florals, paisley prints, and fruity designs. We love opting for bold patterns in our quilt covers, cushions, throw rugs and artwork. Check out Pillow Talk and Bed Bath N’ Table’s gorgeous range of bold patterned home décor pieces to find some inspiration and embrace this beautiful trend!

Natural Stone Accents

Natural stone has been blowing up in the interior design world in 2021 and we will only see that increase in 2022. Stone such as travertine and marble varieties will be seen throughout a range of home décor and furniture pieces. We love the use of natural stone vases, bookends, vessels, and trays to elevate your interior and create a beautiful, organic look. Natural stone is a great finish for furniture pieces such as coffee tables and dining tables as it is durable, hardwearing and a statement on its own due to its simplistic form. Keep an eye out for stores such as Nick Scali, Freedom and Rice Furniture to see how they embrace the natural stone trend this year.

Pairing Things Back

We have spent more time in our homes the past few years than ever before. As a result, we are finding that most people are wanting to create relaxing and calming spaces that reflect their personalities, values, and lifestyle. Now more than ever we are seeing interior design being paired back leaving pieces that are loved and adorned only to remain. We recommend sorting through your decorative home décor pieces and evaluate if they are still bringing you joy, reflect your current style and are something that you love to see in your home each and every day. When you pair back the clutter and keep only items that bring you happiness, your space will automatically feel more calming, relaxing, and joyful.

Mediterranean Pieces

The Mediterranean interior design style is becoming a huge trend with designers, builders, and renovators here in Australia. The Mediterranean style embraces texture, a subtle colour palette, natural stone, greenery, and indoor-outdoor living. This style is perfect for the Queensland home as it works well with our climate and our love of bright and airy interiors. To embrace the Mediterranean interior style in your home décor in 2022 we recommend adding some textured cushions to your sofa, hanging some artwork that sets the tone for the space and placing a beautiful, handmade porcelain bowl with some citrus fruits on your kitchen bench. Don’t forget to add some tropical style greenery throughout your home in the form of large floor plants and trailing devil’s ivy and lighting a lemon-scented candle to create the ultimate vibe. Freedom has some great home décor pieces that pair perfectly with the Mediterranean design style, head in store this weekend to check them out.

Eye-catching Shapes

Gone are the days of square shapes, sleek lines, and straight edges, in 2022 we are embracing organic and eye-catching shapes. We will be seeing this trend predominantly in home décor pieces such as organic shaped vases that create a statement look on your coffee table or console table. We will also be seeing this trend throughout furniture pieces such as asymmetrical coffee tables, organic shaped dining tables and rounded occasional chairs in different forms and textures. Freedom has a great range of vases in an array of eye-catching shapes while Pillow Talk and Bed Bath N’ Table are embracing this trend in their home décor pieces too. Keep an eye out on stores such as Rice Furniture and Plush Think Sofas to see how they are embracing the eye-catching shapes trend in 2022!
